Due to the current widespread confusion among Ohio gun owners, we felt it necessary to clarify some frequently asked questions regarding the transportation of firearms in vehicles under Ohio’s “Constitutional Carry” status. While Ohio is an open-carry state, this does not grant unlimited rights to own or transport a firearm. There is a common misconception that Ohio’s “Constitutional Carry” status supersedes other Ohio laws or creates unfettered rights. However, this is not entirely accurate.

April 19, 2024 – The U.S. Department of Education released its 2024 Title IX Regulations under President Biden, expanding the definition and scope of sex discrimination under Title IX. However, these regulations drastically change how schools can respond to allegations of sexual misconduct.

Ohio is one of 33 states, along with the District of Columbia, to permit the medical use of cannabis with a doctor’s recommendation, but is not among the 11 states (plus DC, and soon Illinois come 2020) to legalize recreational use. It is, however, one of the 50 states filled with people and lawmakers who don’t have a very clear understanding of CBD; from what it is to where it comes from, how it’s regulated, and what laws apply.

Client Stephon Hall was charged with trafficking cocaine and heroin but, on appeal, the Eighth District Court of Appeals agreed with Attorney Friedman and Attorney Nemecek’s assertions that the state’s case against Mr. Hall was not sufficient enough to warrant a guilty verdict.

January 2019 saw the arrival of Ohio’s long-delayed medical marijuana program. Passed under House Bill 523 in 2016, the program was slated to be fully operational by September 2018, but regulatory red tape delayed actual sales of medicinal cannabis until the beginning of 2019.

Given the regulatory haze, there’s a lack of clarity about what’s permitted or prohibited under the law, as well as the possible ramifications it may have in the courts.
